Shoppers say £14 Dunelm heater ‘works in minutes’ – and it costs just 68p an hour to run

A portable heater that costs pennies to run has people rushing to Dunelm.

With the cost of living crisis, many people are looking for alternatives to their central heating.

Furthermore, with cold spells set to hit the UK, finding cheaper ways to keep warm is becoming more important than ever.

Smaller heaters are a great way of staying cosy for less – with the Dunelm portable heater being the latest example.

Priced at £14 with an hourly running cost of just 68p, shoppers claim it heats up a full room in just fifteen minutes.

There are three settings on this mini-heater – one is a fan and the other two blow out warm air.

Plus, it can be easily transported thanks to its size and excellent carry handles.

The popular heater has racked up plenty of five-star reviews, with one customer describing it as a ‘brilliant product – very efficient and not expensive to warm a room in.’

It’s clear that the shoppers of Dunelm have been blown away by how effective and cheap this mini-heater is.

Somebody else wrote that it’s an ‘inexpensive little heater that heats any room in fifteen minutes,’ while one more added: ‘Great fan heater, which warms the room quickly, great value and economical to run!’

According to Boiler Choice, a 35 kW gas boiler will cost you around 84p to run for an hour, while a 35kW LPG combi boiler costs roughly £2.66 per hour.

Especially if you spend most of your time in one room throughout the day, it’s far more economical to go for a portable heater and target your energy usage.

Hairy Bikers star Dave Myers shared that he’s ‘over the moon’ that he’s ‘still breathing’ after his cancer diagnosis.

Dave had publicly announced he was undergoing cancer treatment in May 2022 revealing that he would be a ‘baldy Biker’ for a while due to the side effects of chemotherapy. 

The 65-year-old revealed on his podcast with Si at the time: ‘Anyway Kingy, I’ve got to come clean now, I haven’t been too well recently and basically, I’ve got to have some chemo, you know all this anyway.

‘So this year is going to be a bit quiet for me, I’m not going to be filming, some of the festivals I’m not going to be able to go to, some may be okay but this year’s a bit of a write off for us.

’I have had to speak up about this because I don’t want to hide under a rock, but I would love it if people respected my privacy and just let me get on with it and give Si and our team all the support they need, that would be great. But look, the prognosis is okay, I’m going to be fine.’

Dave thrilled viewers with his appearance on Saturday Kitchen today, where he seemed to be in good spirits and shared a sweet hug with his co-star.

Host Matt Tebutt said to Dave: ‘Very pleased to say that we’ve got the Hairy Bikers in the house,’ adding: ‘We’re very honoured, this is your first time out.’

Dave replied: ‘This is the first time out I’m over the moon, I’m still breathing,’ as the guests cheered, shortly after Dave and Si shared a sweet hug.

In October, Si had shared an update with fans while Dave was undergoing chemotherapy, saying that he was doing well and feeling more positive by the day.

He said: ‘It’s going really well, he’s still in the trenches of his chemo and his treatment but all the numbers are going well and he’s stronger by the day and more positive by the day so he’s doing well.’

Si joked: ‘He’s a tough old boot you know, he’s from Barrow in Furness – he’s not going to give up easy! He certainly isn’t, and he’s doing great.’

He also revealed how much the thousands of messages of well-wishes have meant to Dave and his family since he went public with his diagnosis. 

Si revealed: ‘Everybody involved with the Bikers and certainly Dave and Lil his wife, and the kids – the amount of love that comes over social media is remarkable and it’s noticed and appreciated and we love it, so thank you.’
