Youtuber and author Hank Green has announced that he has been diagnosed with cancer in a candid video.
The 43-year-old explained in the clip titled ‘So, I’ve got cancer,’ that he has been diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma, which, according to the NHS, is ‘an uncommon cancer that develops in the lymphatic system’.
Hank revealed he went to get checked after noticing that his lymph nodes were bigger than usual, which prompted being sent for an ultrasound.
‘Good news, bad news,’ Hank explained, talking about the results of his biopsy, saying that the cancer he has is ‘one of the most treatable’.
‘The goal is cure, the procedure to get there is fairly well known if unpleasant,’ he said.
Hank went on to speak more about his diagnosis, before saying: ‘I’m going to talk about this in a weird way now, and I don’t want you to think that I’m not processing this in a deeper, more emotional way, or with regards to my personal life.
‘It’s just that I don’t really want to do that here right now, because it’s very heavy to talk about the diagnosis from those perspectives.
The Youtube star shared the ‘good news, bad news’ in a candid video (Picture: Hank Green)
‘But I do feel comfortable and ready to talk publicly about it in terms of my work, whatever that is, which is important.’
Going on to talk about the ‘practicalities’, Hank admitted that ‘the call of just lay in bed and feel bad is very strong.’
He continued by saying he ‘feels fine,’ without feeling any other symptoms apart from some slight swelling.
As he prepares to start chemotherapy, Hank added: ‘I know that O’m going to feel like garbage, it’s going to be really unpleasant.’
The Crash Course host added: ‘This is now part of how people are going to imagine me.’
Hank, who is the brother of Fault In Our Stars author John Green, shares one son, Orin, with wife Katherine.
