Indy is the buzzword for 2018
It’s been one hell of a year for those flag-waving, independence-promoting, peace-loving Europeans and I reckon 2018 is going to be even livelier.
First we had the British Bulldog Brexiteers marching to their own nationalistic tune as British Prime Minister Theresa May began the charge out of Europe.
Meanwhile we ebullient and equally determined Scots kept the Saltire flying high, refusing to let go of the idea of freedom from the rest of the UK, and Westminster in particular. A new poll reveals that support towards independence is surging in the wake of Brexit.

New Brit passport borders on fiasco
Red-faced government ministers have been forced to tell Theresa May that her announced return to the blue British passport might not be plain sailing.
May boasted that the return of the traditional blue passport would signal Britain’s “independence and sovereignty – symbolising our citizenship of a proud, great nation.”.
Brexiteers everywhere thumped tables and punched the air in jubilation until Immigration Minister Brandon Lewis, admitted that there was no way to guarantee the new passports would actually be manufactured in the UK.
Never one to miss such an opportunity, Scotland’s First Minister Nicola Sturgeon took to Twitter to poke fun at the irony that the new blue passports may have to be imported!
Trump’s numbers game doesn’t add up
The leader of the Freeworld, US President Donald Trump, seems to have overlooked some vital statistics when imposing his Muslim ban in the interests of national security.
Apart from wanting to ‘Make America Great Again’ Trump often says he wants to keep American’s safe, hence his travel and immigration restrictions. But let’s check out some of these statistics on US deaths.
Muslim extremists accounted for nine deaths and yes, that’s nine deaths too many as far as I’m concerned. But what about gun-toting toddlers who killed 21 people, lawnmowers killed another 69 and lighting took out 31 folk. Then around 264 Americans were hit by a bus while 737 US citizens died after falling out of bed!
Now this is where it gets really interesting … 737 Americans, including white supremacists armed with guns killed 15,039 people.
Maybe we should start thinking about putting bed manufacturers on no-fly lists for starters and electronically tag all toddlers while putting lawnmower salespeople under surveillance!
Trump’s numbers game doesn’t add up
I hope you’re not overdosing on Trumpisms but I couldn’t resist sharing this clip courtesy of CNN in which the new US Ambassador to the Netherlands calls his own words fake news!
In an interview with a Dutch reporter, US Ambassador to the Netherlands Peter Hoekstra denied a comment he made in 2015 about the “Islamic movement,” calling it fake news. Then he denied his denial.
Jaw-dropping comments from US Senator (spokesperson) about Muslims
You have to see it to believe it, folks and so this is just for you doubters out there:

Who said irony is dead?
CAPITAL IDEA: Palestine in triplicate!
This is my favourite Christmas story of the week which I spotted in Middle East Monitor about triplets being born in Palestine.
Please read, enjoy and pass on: https://www.middleeastmonitor.com/20171222-palestinian-in-gaza-names-triplets-jerusalem-capital-and-palestine/
