Two men have died in a crash between a double-decker bus and a lorry in the Cambridgeshire Fens, police said.
The East of England Ambulance Service said its crews were “caring for several seriously injured patients”. In total 20 people have been injured in the accident at about 07:30 this morning on the A47 Thorney Road in Guyhirn.
Nine of those injured are reported as having serious injuries.
The East of England Ambulance Service said 16 casualties had been transferred to Peterborough City Hospital and Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King’s Lynn.
The accident happened outside the Bretts Transport depot, and photographs from the scene show a Bretts lorry involved. The company has yet to respond or comment and the fatal collision.
Cambridgeshire Police have confirmed that the two men travelling in the bus involved in the A47 collision have sadly died. They have not released any identities and their families are being informed.
The road is closed in both directions between the B198 and A141. There are currently delays on the diversion route, please ensure that you travel prepared for today’s forecast hot weather.
