A man has died after being shot by police during a ‘pre-planned’ operation near the M62 motorway. Motorists had initially reported a ‘bad crash’ had caused all lanes to be closed near Junction 24 close to Huddersfield at around 6pm. West Yorkshire Police would only confirm a ‘police incident’ was ongoing.More than five hours later, the force issued a statement revealing a man had died after being shot. The case is being referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC), which said its investigators were at the scene.
