New rules which pedicabs could be forced to obey to operate on London’s streets have been laid out. A crackdown on ‘nuisance’ pedicabs, also known as rickshaws, announced by the Tory government last year pledged to end ‘dangerous driving and antisocial behaviour’ and ‘eyewatering fares’ by drivers. Ministers passed a law to ‘close a legal loophole’ that meant the industry, which is concentrated in tourist hotspots like Covent Garden, was unregulated. People still trust scientists – study Public trust in scientists is still high despite the rising popularity of anti-science politicians.  That’s according to a survey of almost 72,000 people in 68 countries, which found no evidence of the oft-repeated claim of a crisis of trust in scientists. In fact, most participants (52%) believed that scientists should be more involved in policymaking.
