RMT union votes to end rail strikes until at least spring The long-running rail strikes will come to an end, until at least spring of next year, after rail workers voted to accept a pay deal. Members of the RMT union agreed to an offer from train companies which included a backdated pay rise of 5% for 2022-23 as well as job security guarantees. It means RMT members won’t strike again until at least spring 2024. But train drivers represented by the union Aslef will continue to strike over pay, conditions and job security.

Just Stop Oil: 16 protesters arrested outside Rishi Sunak’s London home On Wednesday, a Just Stop Oil protest was staged outside the Prime Minister’s west London home.  Sixteen people have been arrested. Just Stop Oil said about 18 people gathered at the Kensington property holding placards and “made themselves heard by beating pots and pans.” It’s not known if the PM or his family were inside at the time and No 10 have declined to comment.  The Met Police said those arrested were taken to a number of police stations and remain in custody.  A statement issued by Just Stop…

PrEP: Preventative HIV drug highly effective, study says A new study reveals that a drug which stops HIV from infecting the body has also proved to be a highly effective “real-world” preventative treatment.  The research took place across England, with 24,000 people studied. The results have been described as “reassuring.” Thousands of people are already taking the drug PrEP through sexual health clinics. HIV charity the Terrence Higgins Trust wants easier access to the drug, since many people, including women, do not know it exists.
