Elon Musk has said he’s among the top 20 players of Diablo 4 in the world, but there are some caveats to his claims. As the CEO of technology companies like SpaceX and Tesla, it’s perhaps not surprising that Elon Musk is a fan of video games, in particular Diablo 4. Following the action role-player’s launch last year, Musk streamed himself playing the game on Twitter, and also claimed to be one of the top Quake players in the world, back in the late 90s – which later turned out not to be the case. In the run up to…

Memes have spread like wildfire in a perfect distraction from the political news that has seen Donald Trump re-elected as the 47th President of the United States. We thought these were two separate online conversations, until Trump’s son Barron, 18, stood up alongside the Republican, and everyone was…

Metal Slug Tactics – they got a bigger boat (Dotemu) 90s run ‘n’ gun classic Metal Slug is reimagined as a turn-based tactics game that looks and plays just like the original games. The word hardcore is next to meaningless when it comes to video games. When describing gamers, you can assume that it means someone that plays a lot of games, but what kind? At the very least it’s a curiosity that I’m sure Red Dead fans would be interested in playing again. And if Rockstar don’t feel it’s not good enough anymore, why not remake it and improve it? Apart from anything…

Another financial update from Nintendo only makes it more apparent it’s quietly preparing a Switch 2 launch for next year. It’s just missed out on Halloween but this new survival horror from the maker of Forbidden Siren and Gravity Rush has some very unique ideas. There’s been an unusually bountiful crop of horror video games this year, especially in the last couple of months, but there is an obvious problem with them all: they’re not scary. This has been a common complaint for most modern horror games (the last time we remember being genuinely spooked was by last year’s Amnesia: The Bunker) and we can only assume it’s a purposeful attempt to appeal to more people. This, of course, makes…

A reader suspects that the average age of Call Of Duty players is rapidly increasing and suggests it’s made Black Ops 6 a more enjoyable game. It was mentioned the other day that Call Of Duty has been dominating the games industry for 17 years now, which I took to be a reference to Call Of Duty 4. That was certainly a milestone moment for the series, and gaming in general, but Call Of Duty has actually been around since 2003 – which is a bit odd because I don’t remember them really making a fuss about the 20th anniversary…
