Manchester United defender Harry Maguire would prefer to play for a ‘bigger club’ than West Ham United.

The Hammers submitted a £20million offer for the England international on Friday, an offer that was turned down by United.

Erik ten Hag views his former captain as a valuable member of his squad with United not actively looking to sell him this summer.

The right offer could tempt them into doing business however although West Ham’s initial bid falls well short of United’s valuation.

Sky Sports report the Old Trafford club are looking for a fee of around £40million for the 29-year-old.

It remains to be seen whether West Ham will return with an improved offer but there are other stumbling blocks in the way.

According to The Times, Maguire has designs on joining a ‘bigger club’ than David Moyes’ side if he does leave Manchester. His wages are also though to be an issue with the former Leicester star on £200,000-per-week.

United have also already rejected a loan move for Maguire from West Ham.

Maguire lost his place in the starting XI at the start of the 2022-23 season with Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane now Erik ten Hag’s firm first choice pairing at the back.

Victor Lindelof was preferred to the England international during the season-run in while Luke Shaw was also shifted inside ahead of Maguire when other options were not available, occasionally leaving him fifth choice at centre-half.

He started just nine Premier League games last season but so far there has been no clear indication that Maguire wants to leave this summer, with reports suggesting he wants to fight to regain his place in the side next season.

West Ham are also interested in signing Scott McTominay from United as they seek a replacement for Declan Rice following his £105m move to Arsenal.

Like Maguire, United are not actively looking to sell the Scotland international, viewing him as a valuable squad player. It would take an offer of around £40m to £45m to tempt United into doing business.

Love Island narrator Iain Stirling has detailed his fear of becoming ‘irrelevant’.

The 35-year-old, who is married to former Love Island host Laura Whitmore, is known for his cheeky quips about the singletons on the programme, which he’s been narrating since 2015.

But he’s now worried he’s not so down with the kids, it seems.

Appearing on Friday’s The One Show, the Scot explained: ‘I’m at an age now where I’m not relevant anymore.

As Alex Jones joked he shouldn’t say that ‘too loud’ or he’d be ‘booted off’ Love Island, Iain quipped: ‘They need me more than you know!’

‘Take that ITV!’ he laughed.

He went on: ‘Social media and things like that, TikTok, I don’t understand it.

‘And then I just feel like maybe I’m slowly becoming irrelevant, but then also maybe I’m not.’

Iain had been explaining his tour next year is aptly called ‘Relevant’.

The dad-of-one continued: ‘And also, in your family structure, you’re becoming a dad, you feel like you’re everyone’s second choice in the household.

‘It’s a scary time, and an exciting time.’

It’s said he also recently spent time with his nearly one-year-old son in London, according to TMZ. 

The outlet adds that Ethan has been wanting to release a statement of his own amid his divorce woes.

While neither Ariana nor Ethan has publicly addressed the romance rumours yet, Lilly did speak out this week – and she’s not exactly thrilled.

In fact, she blasted Ariana personally as she made it clear that her priority is her baby boy.

‘[Ariana’s] the story really. Not a girl’s girl,’ she told Page Six.

‘My family is just collateral damage.’

Speaking to DailyMail.com, the estranged spouse of the Broadway star – who gave birth in August – later said she is determined to move on with her life as a single mother.

Lily’s savage comments come after reports that she spent time with Ariana and her son in the capital, as Ethan and the Grammy-winning star filmed the movie adaptation of Wicked together.

An insider close to Lilly and Ethan alleged to the Daily Mail that Ariana and Ethan’s new relationship has taken a real toll on Lilly.

‘Lilly hung out with Ethan and Ariana so many times,’ the insider claimed.

‘Ariana met their baby and even held him. They had dinners together in London – and Ariana told Lilly that she wanted to have a baby one day and that she couldn’t wait to start a family.’

According to the source, Lilly and her newborn son travelled to London with Ethan when he began filming in April 2023, eight months after she gave birth.

The insider alleged that Ethan’s relationship with Ariana began after the first visit.

But, she and Ethan made the decision to try and ‘put it behind them and work on their marriage,’ only for her to later find out the romance had continued.
