The 70-acre mansion of Kevin De Bruyne, a Belgium Manchester City star, was been reportedly ransacked by burglars on Saturday.

De Bruyne, 32, his wife Michele Lacroix and their three children were not at the property in Bolderberg during the break-in.

Police believe the burglary took place between 4pm and 9pm and saw them use a stepladder to get inside.

Lacroix walked in to discover the mansion had been trashed, the Dutch newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws (HLN) reported.

Various items were swiped from the secluded luxury estate, the paper said citing the public prosecution office, but what was taken remains unclear.

Forensic experts are combing the scene as police hope to chat with neighbours and look over CCTV.

‘The investigation into what exactly happened is still ongoing,’ the prosecutor’s office said, adding: ‘It is therefore not yet clear who the perpetrators are.’

De Bruyne is currently in Saudi Arabia for the Club World Cup, playing as a midfielder for the Premier League club Man City.

But he had to sit out for his team’s match on Saturday due to a hamstring injury, watching on from the stands at the Etihad Stadium. 

City is set to play Japan’s Urawa Reds in the semi-final tomorrow – it remains unclear whether De Bruyne will be on the pitch with them.

He said over the weekend: ‘It’s going really well. I had surgery – it was a big injury. But we’re getting closer – closer to the new year.’

De Bruyne and Lacroix, an internet personality, bought the mansion in 2015.

Taking four years to build, the home has a pool, hot tub and basketball court.

HLN said the family uses the villa more as a holiday home as they instead spend most of their time at their other mansion in Wilmslow, a village about 10 miles from Manchester.

Made of white stone, the massive property sits on Zandstraat, a street which runs into the De Wijers nature reserve about 3.5 miles east of Lummen.

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag was critical of his side’s attacking display after their draw against Liverpool.

The Red Devils left Anfield with a point after a spirited display on Merseyside that left Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk fuming.

Few expected United to put up such a fight, particularly following the 7-0 defeat at Anfield last term.

Liverpool dominated on Sunday afternoon, and had the lion’s share of possession.

But United arguably had the best two chances through Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Hojlund, with the Dane guilty of squandering a gilt-edged chance.

And, though Ten Hag was happy with the overall display, he felt his side lacked a cutting edge in attack.

‘The performance was very good and the game plan went very well,’ said Ten Hag.‘The players were fantastic. The only criticism was that we could have hurt them more in possession of the ball. We could have won the match on the two chances we had.’

The pressure was building on Ten Hag before the game but the draw gives him a slight reprieve.

The Red Devils take on West Ham at the London Stadium next weekend, before hosting Aston Villa on Boxing Day.

Manchester United legend Roy Keane says his former side have little chance against Liverpool today after exposing the side’s ‘biggest worry’.

United travel to Anfield after a torrid week in which they’ve lost to Bournemouth and crashed out of Europe.

The pressure is building on Erik ten Hag, and he needs a performance on Merseyside to win over an increasing number of doubters.

United have scored just once in the last eight years at Anfield, and they were beaten 7-0 there last season.

But Keane says it’s United’s lack of goals that are the ‘biggest worry’ and he doesn’t see that changing today.

Asked if United could win today, ‘No, not with their form. Gary mentioned there’s always a bit of hope but is there enough belief in the dressing room? In the manager and his staff? We get stats thrown at us every week and the stats are very, very bad for Manchester United at the moment. ‘But they have to turn up as a team today, they haven’t been turning up as a team. The noises coming out after the Bournemouth game last week was that they thought Bournemouth weren’t going to be that good. Every week there’s an issue with United. They’ve had injury problems. There’s talk of a takeover. People are always looking for answers outside the club but sometimes you’ve got to look at within the dressing room. The players have to find the answer today within the dressing room. ‘There’s guys who aren’t involved, some senior players. But find something from within. It doesn’t look good. You don’t think for one second they’ll come in and win in the form Liverpool are in. But they have to find the form from somewhere. ‘They have to be solid, the goalkeeper will have to play well but the biggest worry for me when I look at United is the lack of goals. It’s a big, big issue. They’re poor at the back but they’ve had their injury problems. But the lack of goals from this team makes it very very difficult.’
