Breaking News: A 6.4 Magnitude Earthquake Hits Russia’s Kuril Islands.
A strong magnitude Earthquake has been recorded east of Kuril Islands, Russia, along Ring of Fire near Japan islands.
The quake occurred around 8.00 am GMT east of the Kuril Islands, Russia, at a depth of 10 kilometres. No immediate information about a possible tsunami has been reported.
The Kuril Islands in Russia’s Sakhalin Oblast region, form a volcanic archipelago that stretches over 1,300 km northeast from Hokkaido, Japan, to Kamchatka, Russia, separating the Sea of Okhotsk from the North Pacific Ocean.
Scientists from the US Geological Survey said the powerful tremor was registered 96 miles south of the town of Severo-Kuril.

It follows an overnight 4.7 magnitude earthquake in the same region.
