Albert Square, usually packed by Mancunians celebrating Premier League victories or national holidays, was filled with supporters of the city who came to show their defiance against the terror sown at a Ariana Grande concert less than 24 hours earlier. Thousands of people waving “I heart Manchester” placards gathered in the city’s centre on Tuesday evening to show the victims of the arena atrocity that wherever they are from, “they are Manchester too”
U.K. raises threat level to ‘critical’ following Manchester attack
The U.K. has increased its terrorist threat level to the highest possible “critical” for the first time in a decade, British Prime Minister Theresa May announced Tuesday. The designation means a terror attack is considered “imminent” and allows for military personnel to be deployed instead of police officers at public events.

Senate Intelligence Committee leaders are responding to former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn’s refusal to hand over documents related to its Russia probe by issuing subpoenas to two of his businesses.
Former CIA Director John Brennan revealed that FBI intelligence uncovered “contacts and interactions” between Russian officials and individuals involved with the Trump campaign.
£5m donations boost before May called snap general election
The Conservatives received a boost in donations in the three months before Theresa May called a surprise general election, according to figures published by the Electoral Commission.
The party received £5.46m from January to March this year, more than twice the £2.65m given to Labour. The Conservative party had received £1.85m more in donations during the first quarter of the year than it had in the last three months of 2016.
Trump to meet Pope and Italian leaders
US President Donald Trump is due to hold talks with Pope Francis and Italy’s top leaders in Rome on the third leg of his first overseas trip. Mr Trump and the pontiff have already clashed at a distance on issues including migration and climate change. Mr Trump will also meet Italy’s president and prime minister, before flying to Brussels for a Nato summit. He earlier vowed to help Israelis and Palestinians achieve peace, as he ended the Middle East leg of his tour.
