The Institute of Seniors and Social Services (Imserso) will offer this year almost 7,500 places under a flat rate of 50 euros so that pensioners with the lowest income can access the trips. On the 40th birthday of the program, the new tender seeks “that nobody stays without traveling” for reasons of income or rent. It is not the only novelty, since in 2025, for the first time, travel with pets will be allowed.
In total, 7,447 places will be reserved for people whose benefit is equal to or lower than the non -contributory pension for disability or social security retirement. The remaining cost of these trips will be assumed by the Imserso, as they have clarified from the Ministry. As explained by the Minister of Social Rights, Consumption and Agenda 2030, Pablo Bustinduy to Efe, “the objective is that no one stays without traveling, without enjoying this right because of income or income. We want the trips of the Imserso to reach all pensioners and pensioners.”
With that premise, the Council of Ministers has approved on Tuesday the measure, which begins the processing of the contracting procedure, necessary for tenders greater than twelve million euros; The basis of the process will be published in the coming weeks on the public sector contracting platform.
Travel with pets, surcharge of 100 euros in high season …
The tender number 40 brings another novelty: it will be allowed for the first time to travel with pets in the displacements to the peninsular and insular coast to “make these more accessible, more inclusive and more fair trips, and, at the same time, improve the quality of the services that are provided,” said Bustinduy.
Likewise, the new tender also seeks to combat seasonality in tourism, so it has been established that 36% of the places of each lot are distributed proportionally throughout the campaign. In addition, high season trips will have an additional cost of 100 euros compared to the same routes in low season. According to the destination, the duration of the trips ranges between four and ten days.
To guarantee the sustainability of the sector and the improvement in the quality of the services, the budget allocated to the awarded companies and the sanctions system will be reinforced in case of breach of the quality standards established by the IMSERSO will be increased.
