Garnacho and Mainoo both impressed midweek
Manchester United are looking to continue a promising run of form as they they host Crystal Palace at Old Trafford this afternoon.
Since losing 3-1 at home to Brighton, United have strung together three wins on the bounce, with victories over Rangers and FCSB coming either side of a hard-fought win away to Fulham last weekend.
Kobbie Mainoo turned in a wonderful performance in a more advanced role away in Europe on Thursday night, grabbing a goal and assist in what was his best performance of the season.
The England international made a strong case for starting again at the weekend, as did Alejandro Garnacho who also impressed off the bench.
The Argentina international has been strongly linked with a move away this month but Amorim is eager for him to stay amid interest from Chelsea and Napoli.
Marcus Rashford has not made the squad for the last 12 games and that is unlikely to change today with the forward now closing in on a loan move to Aston Villa.
Patrick Dorgu meanwhile has arrived in Manchester and could be in contention to make his debut in next Friday’s FA Cup fourth round tie against Leicester.
The same goes for Ayden Heaven, the young defender whose arrival from Arsenal was confirmed on Saturday.
Amorim almost has a fully-fit squad to choose from but there are some major decisions to be made in the side – namely up front where Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee has continued to toil with not a goal between the pair in 2025.
Matthijs de Ligt, Leny Yoro and Noussair Mazraoui all shook off minor knocks picked up last weekend with Manuel Ugarte back on the bench midweek after he was forced off at Fulham.

Amorim admitted last week he does not know when Luke Shaw will be available to play. The left-back has endured a miserable, injury-hit season marred by persistent setbacks, having not featured since the start of December.
Mason Mount also remains out after his setback before Christmas with Jonny Evans also still absent.
