Ronaldo; the world’s best player at Fifa Football Awards
Cristiano Ronaldo was named the world’s best player at the inaugural Best Fifa Football Awards, beating old rival Lionel Messi to the title in Zurich. This award follows a year in which he was crowned a European champion for Real Madrid; Uefa Champions League 2016 and Portugal – with victory in the Euro 2016.
Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri, who won the premier league with Leicester and also led his side to the last 16 of the Champions League this season, won the award ahead of Real Madrid’s Zinedine Zidane, who lifted the Champions League in his first season in charge
