Uber Drivers applying for a minicab licence in London will have to pass a written English exam, including a 120-word essay, after Uber lost a high court battle with the capital’s transport authority. This test does not apply to black cab drivers, who are exempt.
TfL previously said the test, which will cost drivers up to £200 to take, is necessary for customer safety and public protection.
The ruling will also apply to all minicab and private hire firms in London.
