An icy start to the new week as the Met office has issued a yellow weather warning and commuters are urged allow extra time when making journeys. A cold and freezing start as sunrise but eventually temperatures will rise.
Longer journey times by road, bus and train services are likely while some vehicles could become stranded.
As temperatures fell rapidly on Sunday evening and icy patches developing on untreated surfaces, especially where any wintry showers lead to wash off of previous treatment.
Heavy hail and snow showers are expected during Monday morning and will lead to ice and snow accumulating on many surfaces. The showers will be heaviest and most frequent across parts of western and northern Scotland.
Ice is likely to form on untreated pavements, cycle paths and roads leading to some injuries from slips and falls are likely.

A frosty start for most of the country with patchy ice. Although cold, central and eastern regions will stay dry with lengthy spells of sunshine. Further sleet and snow showers in the north and west of England.

Mainly clear and frosty with showers in the south. But with the temperatures falling ice road conditions are expected. Late in the night, a band of rain will move into the west and falling as snow across hills and to lower levels further north. With the winds strengthening through the night.
