WWE star suffers wardrobe malfunction seconds into Royal Rumble
WWE superstar Lyra Valkyria had to think quickly after suffering a wardrobe malfunction just moments into the 2025 Royal Rumble.
The first ever Women’s Intercontinental Champion was the fourth entrance into tonight’s bout following Iyo Sky, Liv Morgan and Roxanne Perez, and immediately went on the offence.
However, her gear fought against her at first as it came undone from round her neck, risking an embarrassing moment.
She stayed professional and kept going, hitting moves on her opponents in between trying to fix her gear.
Former world champion Liv Morgan knocked her down into the corner, which allowed a member of the crew to rush over and help her out.
Thankfully, she was quickly back on track, getting involved as the likes of Chelsea Green, B-Fab and Ivy Nile joined the fray in the opening match of the night.
Fans were immediately sympathetic, while others heaped praise on Liv for giving her opponent a chance to fix the situation.
‘Lyra having a gear malfunction oh no,’ wrote one user, as another viewer added: ‘Lyra has a wardrobe malfunction someone get her a shirt a jacket sweater something #RoyalRumble’
‘Poor Lyra. Props to Liv for helping her into the corner,’ a third fan wrote on ex, as someone else said: ‘Lyra nearly lost her top 😳 #RoyalRumble’
Unfortunately for Lyra, she was just the second person to be eliminated as Ivy Nile took her out.
Despite her early exit, the 28-year-old Irish star is sure to factor into the play for WrestleMania 41 with gold around her waist after triumphing on Raw’s Netflix debut.
Fans are rallying behind her after she long saw wrestling as her ‘escape’ and her ‘reason’ for being, and she was thrilled to have experienced that rise from being a fan at the Three Arena in Dublin to making it her career.
‘I love that I’ll always know what it means watching and being on both sides of barricade. I’ll never lose that,’ she told Metro in 2023. ‘I hope I’ll never lose that, that appreciation for it. And knowing this is my life now, like, my escape became my whole life.’
It hasn’t been easy for the Irish star, who has always been ‘quite athletic’ but had to overcome some challenges on her way up.
‘It’s not easy! A lot of the time there was me and another girl and we were in there with a bunch of guys. Actually, when I started, we didn’t have a ring, we just learned on mats,’ she laughed
