Mediterranean Migrant Boat Latest: Tunisia migrant death toll rises to at least 46
The bodies of 46 migrants have been recovered off Tunisia’s southern coast, the country’s defence ministry said Sunday, revising upwards an earlier government death toll.
The interior ministry reported a distress call on Saturday night at 10:45 pm from “a fishing boat about to sink” with migrants on board.
Tunisians and seven foreigners were among the survivors, including nationals from Ivory Coast, Mali, Morocco and Cameroon, said the defence ministry spokesman. Tunisians and migrants regularly try to cross the Mediterranean to seek a better future in Europe, but departures peaked last September.
Calls to make the route safer have begun as this is a regular flow of migrants from Africa, searching for a better future in Europe. The EU needs to address this problem collectively.

Guatemala’s Fuego volcano erupted on Sunday for the second time this year, leaving at least 25 people dead and 20 injured, as officials warned of continued volcanic activity.
The volcanic eruption spewed a river of red, hot lava and belched thick clouds of smoke nearly six miles into the air, according to the CONRED, the government’s national coordinator for disaster reduction. The explosion stands to affect 1.7 million people and local reports describe how the lava ran through villages burning people alive.
It still remains a very active and fluid situation as heavy rain and mudslides are expected to exacerbate the ongoing crisis.
President Bashar al- Assad asks America to leave & Assad will meet Kim Jong Un in North Korea
Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has said the United States has “lost its cards” in Syria, calling on America to leave the country in an interview with Russia Today. Suggesting that the United states will interrupt peace negotiations with the SDF.
“The Americans should leave. Somehow, they’re going to leave. They came to Iraq with no legal basis, and look what happened to them. They have to learn their lesson. Iraq is no exception. Syria is no exception. People will not accept foreigners in this region any more,” Assad said.
The Syrian president said his government had “opened doors to negotiation” with US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), a predominantly Kurdish group that controls parts of northern Syria. The SDF, which Assad dubbed the “only problem left in Syria,” would be confronted with force if negotiations fail, the president said.
Days before Kim Jong Un is set to meet US President Donald Trump in Singapore, the North Korean leader is revealing plans to meet yet another leader — Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
Assad will visit Kim in North Korea and If the meeting takes place in Pyongyang, it would be the first time a world leader has visited Kim in the capital.
UK Learner drivers to be allowed to drive on motorways – mixed responses
From today, learners in England, Scotland and Wales can have lessons on the motorway. They must be in a dual-control car with an approved driving instructor but it’s hoped the move will cut accident rates and boost young people’s road confidence.
It will remain voluntary and will not be part of any tests. The AA and RAC have welcomed the change but many motorists fear that a sudden rise in learner drivers on the motorways will cause a hazard to high speed roads.

Slovenia Elections- Anti-migrant party set to win election as vote count underway
Another right-wing government is likely to be elected in Slovenia. The rise in right-wing parties continues across Europe as the opposition anti-migrant Slovenian Democratic Party (SDS) is leading at Sunday’s general election in Slovenia, with the vote count still underway.
The SDS was ahead of the pack with 26.3 percent after some 25 percent of votes had been counted, the State Election Commission said. They were followed by Lista Marjana Sarca (LMS), which was running in the election for the first time, with 12.2 percent.
A total of 25 parties contested the election in the Balkan republic, with nine of them expected to make it to parliament, according to exit polls.

Sajid Javid, The Home Secretary is to reveal plans for MI5 to declassify and share information on UK citizens suspected of having terrorist sympathies.
The security services currently hold information on around 20,000 such people, labelled “subjects of concern”. Intelligence information around these people will be shared more across the government, local authorities and the police.
The Home Secretary will make the announcement later in a speech relating to the overhaul of UK counter-terror strategy.
